Recommendations for Authors and Institions
Recommendations for Authors
- General Fitness of Web Application: Check if >iMathAS is in general an appropriate system to support automatic assessements of mathematical tasks.
- Library Management: If you answer the previous question with YES, do consider to use iMathAS in a large community to share tasks (not only electronic proofs) in a Library Management which is provided by >iMathAS.
- Other Web Application: If you have other mathematical Web Applications for automatic assessment available at your institution, try to implement the e-Proof Environment in that e-Assessment System (we used >ILIAS EA for an e-proof environment in the first step before iMathAS, the assessment environment. >ILIAS-EA was more advanced according to our requirements than OLAT and iMathAS added more mathematical features for a tailored feedback to proof the student provides in iMathAS.
Recommendations for Institions
- Join Forces: If more than one Author of Tasks want to use an Internet based Mathematical Assessment System at your institution, try to join forces with other institutions to share the Library of Tasks in a community. A positive side effect is the maintenance costs for the iMathAS server is shared among the institutions as well. The VCRP provide that in cooperation with the IWM at University of Koblenz-Landau.
